Hello!

I am getting an error when exporting:

"Unhandled exception has occured....Illegal characters in path"

I've tried to determine which playlist it is, but I've got about 500 and it's some tedious work.

What this needs to support is a index prefix to the filenames for flat output (no folders) that represents the order of the file in the iTunes playlist. There are devices out there that do not recognize playlist files on a USB stick; auto head units primarily and so the order is not maintained. They are sorted alphabetically by default.

Does this software liberate m4p & m4a files when a user has lost the ability to play the files in iTunes? I have about 20-30 m4p and just about 10 m4a files, so this is not really a major priority for me, but I do really like those songs and it would be nice to have access to them once again.

Backstory/Details/Idle Musing:

A few years ago, I lost track of my account I used to login to iTunes. I was trying to associate a few accounts into one account, and it just did not work out very well. I ended up orphaning the account which had purchased the DRM protected music files.

Apple support essentially punted and were unable to correct the issues, and while did not say it, probably thought I was going to all that trouble just to pilfer 30-40 songs from iTunes. Right.

Whining: As a result,that was the last time I ever purchased content from them.

Now I do not have access to the account that purchased the DRM protected files to begin with.. mostly owing to the byzantine manner in which apple.com handles account settings and management for customers.

OneClick will not work on a Windows7 system. It is asking for a FULL install of .Net. (When did .Net become Open Source? Curious that..) I have 4.0.03.xxxx installed.. and all recent Microsoft patches/updates. Why not just provide a zip or exe file for download? Since no other way to download, I must give up. Thanks anyway. It looked like a rather tempting software product. :-/

Hello,

I have my mp3 files and iTunes xml file on a network drive. When I select "Load", I get an error that says:

\QNAP\Qmultimedia\Music\Libraries\iTunes\iTunes Media\ not found!

Note that my library can be found here:

\\QNAP\Qmultimedia\Music\Libraries\iTunes\iTunes Music Library.xml

The iTunes Media folder is there - I suspect you are missing the extra \ ?

Also, I'm not sure what you'd be using the iTunes Media folder for - I don't keep music there.

You should get .Net 3.5! If you are running windows 7 it's located in Control Panel > Programs and Features > Turn Windows features on or off > Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5.1

Any ideas on how to get it to install for me? Or what the cause of this could be?

I have the .net framework 4.0 installed and have already tried a reinstall of that, as well as an uninstall and just installing .net 2.0. not of this has helped.

I downloaded the source after trying to use the app and having it crash. Thought I would build it and run the debugger. Having problems building because the "phtree" assembly could not be found. Can I get this from somewhere so that I can complete the build?

Thanks Glenn, I've taken a look at these, and will have to figure it out. I just opened an m3u, and it looks like an easy search and replace of the folder names for each track. Maybe you could just add another option in iExporter to Replace With New iTunes Music Folder , and viola, problem solved! Very powerful really!

Thankyou for trying iExporter :)

But to be honest, iExporter isn't really created for exporting/importing in iTunes. The best way to do that is to use iTunes itself.

Is there any documentation on what all the options on the GUI are? Here's my scenario:

My iTunes folder is on Drive F:\My Music\iTunes Music. I copied all my music files from one computer to another on an external HDD, and dropped them into iTunes, which copied them into the C:\My Music iTunes folder. I want to export my playlists from the old machine and import them into the new machine. Is there a combination of settings I need to use that removes the track location/folder information, so it can locate these files on the new computer?

Also, is there a [bulk] importer, so you can export from one machine and import into another machine without really thinking about it! I have nearly 120 playlists.

Hey jsab0,

I'm sorry to hear your files where somehow deleted!! You are the first person to mention this... so I don't have any idea why this could be the case.

First up, I don't think the files can be retrieved if they where not on any backup. ( but if you are using windows vista or 7 right click on the folder and select properties, there is a tab 'previous versions' that could contain a copy of the folder )

Secondly, could you tell me more about how you tried to export the files and what selections you made? Maybe a screenshot or something?

I used the program on several playlists at the same time (which was probably not wise for my first time using this program), and not only were no playlist files generated in the specified folder, but all of the folders that contained an MP3 that was in one of those playlists, was deleted. I've got entire music folders mysteriously gone. I've used the Windows search function to see if they were just relocated but they're nowhere to be found. I had a "Rock" folder, with countless subfolders for each individual artist, and the entire Rock folder is gone. And that's just my Rock folder.

What just happened, and why? And is there a way to get my files back?
